Diet plays a major role for people suffering from this problem Insomnia. My grandmother used to say that having a glass of warm milk at night is really a great help. I do not have warm milk at night every day and it is good help. I think that more stress would also cause sleep disorders for some, I do not usually sleep if I'm stressed that I'm tired and want to hit the bed immediately.
